Allie D - Veterinary Receptionist - Manchester Veterinary Clinic - CT - Trusted Vets For Your Pets

As a child, I was always that one friend of the group that dragged everyone to the zoo, aquarium or even the UConn barn for their birthday party. My entire childhood consisted of caring for animals: our family always owned around 40 animals at a time. Kinds of animals often found in our household includes but is not limited to: chickens, ducks, rabbits, hamsters, ferrets, horses, dogs, cats, birds, turtles, snakes and lizards. Most friends and extended family actually refer to our house as the “funny farm”.

I was about six years old when I began horseback riding lessons which is also when I started spending my summers at the Hartford County 4-H Horse Camp and most of my weekends competing in horse shows. As I got older, I quickly came to realize that being involved with animals was basically a requirement to keep me sane! I finished my undergraduate studies at the University of Connecticut with an Associate’s Degree and more recently, a Bachelor’s Degree of Science. I majored in Animal Science for all four years. Not surprising, huh?

MVC is my first job working with animals and coincidentally, the first job I’ve really ever been excited to go to every day. Working as a receptionist, nurse and also an assistant, it is safe to say that I’m always learning something new. Besides my parents’ crew at home, I also have my Catahoula mix Loki, and my two ferrets, Daisy and Lola. When I’m not at work, I enjoy being outside whether I’m at the beach, out with my horse, or taking Loki for a hike.
